Carey Mulligan At first glance, she might be a 14-year-old trying to pass for 18 at the local nightclub. Then she gets to her feet and is instantly transformed, looming 5ft 10 in her tottering heels. Her voice is in her boots; rich and deep, at least three octaves lower than it ought to be. Everything about her is quietly confounding. In just six years Carey Mulligan has gone from giggly teenage wannabe to the 'new Audrey Hepburn'. Carey Mulligan was born in England but spent her first eight years of life living in Germany, brfore moving back to her home country, where she now resides in Covent Garden, London. She was first drawn to acting when she was at school, at just six years old she was so inconsolable at not being allowed to join her elder brother in a school play of ‘The Kind and I, that she was eventually allowed a part in the chorus. Ten years later, at the age of sixteen and while at Woldingham School in Surrey she went to see Kenneth Branagh in his production of ‘Henry V’. She was so inspired by his performance that she wrote to him asking for advice. Carey got her first major appearance by playing "Kitty Bennet" in Pride & Prejudice alongside Keira Knightley, Judi Dench and Donald Sutherland. Carey also played orphan "Ada Clare" in the BBC television series, "Bleak House". Carey has said that her passion and love for acting was first kindled at her old school Woldingham School, where she took part in a school production of "Sweet Charity" in her final year, and where she was also a student head of drama.
