Beastly
Directed by: Darren Barnz
Starring: Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Neil Patrick Harris, Mary-
Kate Olsen, Peter Krause, Lisa Gay Hamilton

Everyone knows the story of Beauty and the Beast. Well the fairy tale
has come back to life in the year 2011 in the form of the movie
Beastly. This film adaptation stars Vanessa Hudgens from High School
Musical and up and coming actor Alex Pettyfer. Also making a
comeback is the Olsen twin that can act, Mary-Kate Olsen.

Kyle, Alex Pettyfer, is the “popular, wealthy, and good looking” high
school student that is all about looking good on the outside and he
shuns whoever does not reach the bar of his beauty standards. When
Kyle zeros in on one of his classmates, Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), by
asking her to a school dance and blows her off, Kendra casts a gothic
spell on Kyle by turning him into the form of ugliness of which Kyle
doesn’t approve. Kendra tells a saddened Kyle that he has one year
to find true love by having someone say the three magic words.

Kyle meets Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens), and at first there is some
tension between them since Kyle protectively trapped Lindy in his
apartment from someone who is hunting her down. But as time
passes, they come to enjoy each other’s company and eventually find
feelings for each other.
I’m not sure where every critic writing reviews for
this film is coming from. Beastly is really not that bad
a movie. Overall, the acting was pretty good.
Pettyfer does have some experience from being a
British actor and from I Am Number Four. Vanessa
Hudgens was in the high school musical trilogy.

I had low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised
after watching it.  If you love romantic movies, then
you should watch Beastly.  I guess I easily get
touched especially with scenes full of love & care.
Anyhow, in spite of the fairy tail-ish story, Beastly
was so much more. Aside from the good looking
actors in the movie, there were valuable lessons to
take home too!  Lessons like, Love is not just about
material things.  This applies to all kinds of
relationships. Beauty is only skin deep. Kindness &
love warms the heart. Love is never ugly.

This movie was really predictable but we all love a
sappy love story. I would recommend this movie as
a date night movie. It has great characters and a
great moral. “People can be beautiful on the inside,
no matter how beastly.” "Beastly" is sentimental,
mushy and a little sappy. But there's nothing wrong
with this tale as old as time - especially if you're
looking for a movie to watch while holding hands
with your true love. Beastly," a modern take on
"Beauty and the Beast," is a sweet film about falling
in love.
