Shooting began in Charlestown Monday on Ben Affleck’s newest made-in-Boston flick
“The Town,” starring Ben and oh-so-studly “Mad Men” hunk Jon Hamm.
Ben and his leading lady, Blake Lively - who looked just like a Townie in her teeny-tiny
mini and striped tank top - filmed a backyard barbecue in the shadow of the Bunker Hill
Monument .
Blake, BTW, seemed to enjoy her ever-so-Lively barbecue co-star - an adorable little
girl who sat on the actress’ lap during the shoot. “The Unusuals” detective Jeremy
Renner was also on the scene for the scene.
Affleck, playing Boston's most wanted bank robber, is both directing and starring in the
film following a bizarre love triangle involving a crook, a bankteller and a FBI agent.
The movie is an adaptation of the blue-collar heist novel "Prince of Thieves" by Chuck
Hogan which was written for the big screen by Peter Craig and Affleck.
Oscar winner Chris Cooper, who recently filmed "The Company Men" in Boston, is
currently in negotiations to star as Affleck’s father in the film.
Lively, aka “Gossip Girl’s” Serena van der Woodsen, plays Affleck’s ex-galpal and
Renner plays her bro and Affleck’s best friend. Hamm has the role of a hard-charging
FBI agent who is hot on the trail of bank-robber Ben.
Dorchester rapper Slaine, who made a splash as bad guy Bubba Rogowski in Affleck’s
“Gone, Baby Gone,” has also joined the cast.
