My dad elects to stay behind and guard the boat from river pirates. Granted there aren't that many pirates in Alaska these days but
one can never be too careful. He told me later that while we were off exploring he was greatly entertained by the lovely young boat
captain. She did a marvelous job of piloting our vessel up the Talkeetna and Susitna rivers, deflty avoiding boulders and hidden
sand bars. Unfortunately she also avoided all the sports bars and after whipping around that 360 degree turn I coulda used a drink!
