Actor Patrick Swayze passed away at the
age of 57 after a long battle with cancer.
Swayze's career included memorable roles
in "Dirty Dancing," "Road House," "Ghost"
and "Point Break," and he recently starred
in the supremely underrated series "The
Beast." Swayze was diagnosed with
pancreatic cancer last year and was initially
given only six months to live, but he
persevered and continued working.

leading men in the films Dirty Dancing and

its "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1991.

character actor best known for his
role reciting offbeat poetry on
"Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," died
Monday at his home in Malibu after a
brief battle with cancer. He was 73.
After "Laugh-In," Gibson went on to
appear in several films, including
"The Long Goodbye" and "Nashville,"
which earned him a Golden Globe
nomination. His most memorable
roles included playing the menacing
neighbor opposite Tom Hanks in
"The 'Burbs," the befuddled priest in
"Wedding Crashers" and voicing
Wilbur the Pig in the animated
"Charlotte's Web."

who sang into the middle
microphone with folk trio Peter, Paul
and Mary, died September 16 at 72
after a long battle with leukemia.
Born in 1936, Mary Travers was two
years old when her parents moved
the family from Kentucky to
Greenwich Village in New York City.
By the time she was a teenager,
Mary was a full-fledged member of
the 1950s Village folk scene,
though, at the time, she said music
was just a hobby, and she had no
plans to sing professionally.

athletic actor who also starred in the
1940s movie serial "Jack Armstrong:
The All-American Boy" and the 1950s
TV series "Hawkeye and the Last of
the Mohicans," died Sunday at his
home in Rosarito Beach in Baja
California, said his wife, Beryl.
He acted in two episodes of "The
Lone Ranger" before he himself
portrayed the famous Masked Man
for 52 episodes from 1952 to 1953
replacing Clayton Moore.

by St. Thomas’ Hospital in London,
where she had been treated for the
chronic disease for more than five
years, and by her husband, Ross
Vodden. Britain’s Press Association
said she died last Tuesday. Hospital
officials said they could not confirm
the day of her death
