We passed over the deepest gorge on the Alaska railroad line. Shortly after
leaving Talkeetna we traverse one of the greatest engineering feats on the
Alaska Railroad, the historic bridge over Hurricane Gulch. The bridge spans 918
feet and 296 feet above the Chulitna river below. Being afraid of heights this
sight is not a comforting one.
Traveling by rail to Denali - the terrain changed, forest slowly gave way to more open plains and mountains. There's very little wildlife visible. Saw a
couple swans and eagles. Many beaver dams and lodges but I didn't see any of the furry little rodents. I’m always on the lookout for some beaver.
They tend to be nocturnal so no doubt they’re sleeping off their wild nightlife.

No bear sightings yet and the only moose we've seen so far were on the ride
to and from Seward. So far the only wild life we've seen today are the swans
on our bed in the Denali bluffs hotel. Denali is very hilly terrain. Below is the
view from the landing below the hotel lobby, Our room is that little cabin
directly below. I tried taking a picture of the view from our room but as you can
see from the picture above our view is pretty much obscured by trees. The
foliage is so close I could reach out and pluck the leaves from the branches
without having to bend over the railing. If it weren't for the trees our view
would be the same as what you see below.
We attended a dinner theater in Denali - all you can eat BBQ ribs, salmon, corn
on the cob, potatoes, BBQ beans, wild berry cobbler - good food, fun
entertainment, excellent piano player and singing. Overall it was a fun time.
